The Apprenticeship and Skills Hub provides a comprehensive facility for people who would like help to achieve their career next steps.

The Hub works closely with the Marches Skills Provider Network which is a network of all the local Universities, FE Colleges and Training Providers. This ensures good quality information on vocational provision and access to their links to hundreds of local employers. The Hub is therefore constantly updated on current and emerging opportunities.

What's in it for you?

The overall aim is that Hub users will, within the time frame, have been able to successfully move on to an appropriate next step such as apprenticeship, traineeship, full time course, work.

  • support with completing forms, building a CV, completing apprenticeship/job/FE applications
  • Support with interview techniques
  • Signposting to other support agencies, sources of grants and benefits.

Foundation Courses

Foundation Courses provide a stepping stone into apprenticeships for school leavers. The one year courses will provide introductory occupational skills and qualifications, work experience and support with maths, English, ICT and employability skills. Training is provided in small groups with high levels of support.

Courses in Construction, Engineering and Business have the aim that those who complete successfully will progress onto level 2 or 3 apprenticeships with the added advantage of having begun to develop some of the skills which employers are looking for.

Employers have told us that this type of preparatory course is really important to help with the transition from school to work and in some instances it may be possible to make early progress to the Apprenticeship.
